d.painter covers his bases. As a music lover and dance floor technician he can float with ease between Hollywood corporate events to dive bars, house music to hip-hop to classic disco and rock. Creator of the FADE L.A. promotion brand, D and company hold monthly events that are quickly becoming staples of the Downtown and Hollywood scenes providing unique international themed nights including Sucia Bonita, World70 and Moombah Sessions headlined by major DJ/Producers including Dave Nada, Latin Grammy nominated El Dusty, SiriusXM’s SpydaTEK, Hollywood veteran Tendaji Lathan and Prince’s former personal DJ Rashida. Further more, D has been billed with legends Paul Van Dyke, LL Cool J and hair metal icons Poison.

d.painter has been producing independent records and spinning tracks at top venues for 10+ years (D was DJ Tru in a past life). Hailing from Washington DC by way of St. Louis, MO, raised on 80’s Pop and Punk, 90’s Hip-Hop, House and Reggae, Dominic pioneered the open format / Mash-Up scene in the nations capitol. As the Mash-Up style became the commercial standard for popular venues (and ultimately a watered down format), D decided it was time to move on to a scene that valued quality and catered to fans only concerned with the music. After moving to Los Angeles the focus became Electronic music from house to moombahton while maintaining steady work for Hollywood venues and private industry clientele mixing open format pop/hip-hop/funk/rock.

Since heading West he has been invited to play at popular venues including Avalon, Playhouse, playing with Dim Mak Records, a residency at Dodger Stadium’s Dugout and Stadium Club playing for VIP entertainers and athletes. Clients include YouTube/YouTube Gaming, ABC Television’s Black-ish, Amazon Originals, Paramount Studios, HBO, and many more. As well, he is consistently releasing mixes for clients, live radio appearances and experimental podcast series (Docu-Mix) that use music to explore politics and history. These mixes can be found on his mixcloud page which Mixmag writer, Marcus K. Dowling, states “is chock full of intelligently crafted remixes of popular and legendary tunes, as his flexibility as a selector is one of his calling cards.”
